Sport and Physical Activity Bursary Scheme

We want North Somerset children and young people to keep active by taking part in the sport or activity they love! Cost can often be a barrier to participation which is why we have secured limited funding to be able to offer a bursary scheme to those who would otherwise not be able to participate in a sport or physical activity of their choice.

Grants of up to £50 are available to fund:

• sports kit / equipment
• sports or activity club membership fees / annual subscriptions
• taking part in events associated with the sport or activity

We are happy to work with North Somerset sports clubs/ physical activity sessions to see if they can support in anyway.

Eligibility

• North Somerset resident
• From a low-income family / experiencing financial pressure

Details of a sponsor/referrer will need to be provided to support the application. The sponsor/referrer should know the young person well and fully understand the application including what the young person wants to achieve. The sponsor/referrer should be able to comment on the reasons why the young person would be suitable for a grant. 

Your sponsor needs to be a professional person who knows you well, and who can comment on why you are suitable for the grant you have requested. This could be for example: a teacher, sports coach, support worker, etc. The sponsor/referrer cannot be related to the young person or a close family friend.

We will use the details you provide to contact your sponsor/referrer, and to ask them how they know the young person and how they think this money will help. They sponsor/referrer will need to know the young person is making this application and by providing their details, we will take this as consent to us contacting them.
