Reflection is a core element of trauma informed practice and an effective way to show staff that you value their emotional wellbeing. Reflection is a style of thinking, something we already do. However, this can become challenging when we are ‘firefighting’, dealing with crisis, or emotional exhaustion. By setting aside specific time on a regular basis, we give ourselves permission to think more deeply about the things which frustrate or motivate us, and some time out from everyday pressures.

The Reflective Practice Guide is a step-by-step approach for leaders and staff wanting to introduce and implement group reflective practice. It explains the role and benefits of having a regular structured approach to thinking together in complex and demanding work environments. It offers practical tools and frameworks from starting conversations with your team, to facilitating and evaluating group sessions.

The Planning Reflective Practice offers a power point presentation to help start discussions and planning for group reflective practice.
