Free led cycle rides during the summer months

  • To support adults to return to cycling
  • To support adults to become confident to ride a bike

We believe cycling is for everyone, and we’re here to support you on your journey. If you live or work in North Somerset and you are either new to cycling, returning after a break, or looking to build confidence, we can help you get back onto your bike.

Cycling as an adult (18+) for the first time or after a long absence can feel daunting, but you’re not alone. Our friendly instructors will help you build confidence and skills at your own pace.

Beginners: Learn to Ride Sessions

The Learn to Ride sessions take place away from roads and are suitable for those who can ride but have low confidence and/or have spent a long time away from cycling.

During the session you will cycle in an off road environment with a qualified instructor. You will learn the basics, build your skills and gain the confidence to be able to navigate around your local area.

Guided Ride Sessions

Aimed at those who have not got on two wheels for a long time but wish to return and improve their cycle fitness. Using British Cycling’s Couch to 50 KM programme riders will cycle over a period of eight weeks following a progressive programme, each week spending longer in the saddle.

Led by British Cycling qualified leaders who will support you throughout.

The first week will be a welcome session: no cycling but a chance to get to meet other participants and the leaders, have your bike checked for safety and find out more about the programme.

Please note spaces are limited and priority will be given to the following individuals:

Those doing less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week and/or with one or more of the following:

  • Living with at least one long-term health condition
  • Those from ethnically diverse communities
  • Those who are long-term unemployed or have never worked
  • Those with mental health conditions
Mondays, starting 23 June 6.30pm

Week 1 meet: Weston AFC, Winterstoke Road, Weston-super-Mare

Week 2 onwards meet: at the prom for 8 weeks of riding
