Fox Cycling – supporting children and families with riding a bike

Learning to ride a bike is an important life skill, but confidence starts before pedalling!
Fox Cycling supports children, families and adults with confidence-first cycling guidance, Pedal Ready Assessments and one-to-one learn-to-ride support, helping learners take the next step calmly and confidently.
Balance, gliding, steering, body control and feeling safe on a bike all help build the foundations for successful cycling. Families can support this by using a balance bike first, or if the learner already has a pedal bike that is too small, by removing the pedals and lowering the saddle so it can be used like a balance bike.
Short, positive practice sessions work best, giving the learner time to build confidence before adding pedals. Try not to rush the process, as some learners may be physically ready before they are cognitively ready to put all the skills together.
