Nailsea Stroke Club Sports Club
Nailsea Stroke Sports Club meet weekly on Mondays at 1pm at Scotch Horn Leisure Centre.
The session starts with a gentle warm-up before the main activities and finishes with a gentle cool-down and stretch. The main activities vary from cricket to boxing to ring toss, and more!
All activities are accessible to all, for those who are fully mobile to those in wheelchairs. The aim is to work within our limits but to also have fun. The Club are supported by the Stroke Association and fully welcome new concepts and ideas.
The club is open to stroke survivors of all ages and carers / partners / support workers are very welcome to attend. Sessions cost £3 per member and £1 for any accompanying adults.
Nailsea Stroke Sports Club was set up approximately one year ago. Sarah, a stroke survivor, realised that once the initial rehabilitation came to an end they needed to continue to work on balance and co-ordination skills.
With the support of the local Stroke Association stroke club and Sarah’s husband, they set upon creating their sports club. The initial idea came from a fellow stroke survivor who suggested they set up a walking football club for other stroke survivors. It soon became apparent though that there was a greater need for other activities and their group was born.
