Genetics, the environment and biological factors impact our weight

Our body weight is influenced by our genetics, the environment we live in, and biological factors.  Where we live, access and availability of affordable healthy food, opportunities to be active and our income impact us being able to make changes to what and how much we are eating and drinking as well as how much everyday movement we do.

Extra weight can cause fat to build up around vital organs, making it harder to the body to fight against health conditions. If you are living with overweight or obesity, managing your weight can help reduce your risk of developing serious diseases.
